One tag for everything you inspect in the field.
SurveyLog is a survey journal for Android. Record findings, original-resolution photos, video, audio, locations and on-site contacts per project, then send them to your client as an email or a PDF. Data stays on the phone, and is encrypted before it reaches your own Google Drive.
Projects hold journals. Journals hold what you find.
Create one project per client or site, then one journal for every room, point or system you inspect. Survey anything: a greenhouse and its existing systems, a warehouse, a building, or the extent of a plot of land.
- Greenhouse Block B, Lembang 3 journals
- Existing drip irrigation, pump 2
- Temperature & humidity control panel
- East-side polycarbonate roof
- Cold storage warehouse, Cikarang 2 journals
- Condenser units 1–3
- Loading dock doors
- Clinic car park, Bekasi 1 journal
- Site boundary, 5 GPS points
The sample data above is fictional.
- Notes
- Formatted text: headings, lists, bold, italic, links and timestamps.
- Tags & search
- Tag journals, filter by tag, and search across every project at once.
- No signal
- Everything you record works offline. You only need a connection to sync and to send.
Original-resolution photos, video, voice recordings and any file.
Field evidence is kept as captured. Photos are not compressed, so cracks, equipment labels and meter readings stay legible when you zoom in.
- Photos
- From the camera or the gallery, at original resolution.
- Video
- Record straight into the journal, with sound.
- Audio
- Record interviews or voice notes in the journal, or attach audio files.
- Files
- PDFs, spreadsheets, drawings, or any document from your client.
- Captions
- Every attachment has its own caption, which is printed in the report.
Point 1−6.8123, 107.6178±6 m
Every finding has its own point.
Tag a location with the phone's GPS in one tap, or type coordinates by hand. Label each point so it is easy to find again.
- GPS
- Coordinates, accuracy and altitude are recorded automatically with the time.
- Manual
- Enter coordinates yourself when the GPS signal is weak or the point is already known.
- Maps
- Open a point in your maps app, or export every point in a project to GeoJSON and CSV.
Reports your client can forward as they are.
Send one journal or a whole project. Reports read well on a phone and on a desktop, and stay tidy when forwarded or printed.
- A report summary in the email body, with original-resolution photos attached.
- A laid-out, print-ready project report attached to the email.
- Too large?
- Most email services cap messages at about 25 MB. When a report is larger, SurveyLog suggests another way to share it, such as the Android share menu.
Your clients' data stays in your hands.
SurveyLog has no server. Journals live on your phone. If you turn on sync, data is encrypted on the phone with your passphrase before it is uploaded to your own Google Drive.
- Storage
- On your device. No SurveyLog account, no ads, no analytics.
- Sync
- Optional, to a hidden app folder in your Google Drive. Neither XMTN Studio nor Google can read its contents.
- Permissions
- Location, camera and microphone are requested only when you use the feature. Contacts are chosen through the Android contact picker, without access to your whole address book.
